Overview
The Guest Harbor Inn, formerly recognized as the All Star Inn, stands as a welcoming hotel situated in San Pedro, Los Angeles County, California. It provides comfortable lodgings and a convenient setting for business travelers, tourists, cruise enthusiasts, and families alike. Amenities include complimentary parking, free WiFi, Cable TV with On-Demand options, and a dedicated front desk staff available around the clock to assist you.
Goal
Revitalize Guest Harbor Inn with a compelling rebrand that resonates with a broader audience, drawing in more customers, all while establishing a unified brand voice.
Approach
After conversing with Sam, the owner's son and hotel manager, he highlighted their proximity to the largest port in the United States, the Port of Los Angeles. Expressing a desire for a complete hotel rebrand, Sam envisioned a fresh start for a new era. Through subsequent discussions, he decided on initiating the transformation by crafting a new name and logo with a nautical theme.

Creating the logo
Responding to Sam’s vision, the owner's son and hotel manager, I created various iterations of "Guest Harbor Inn," incorporating nautical symbols. One notable design featured the letter 'G' forming a helm, with the sails of a ship integrated into the counter part of the letter 'G,' serving as a secondary logo. To enhance the design, I added an anchor at the bottom to address any remaining white space on the sign. The result is a comprehensive logo embodying the name”Guest Harbor Inn” along with distinctive nautical elements.

Creating the Map
To enhance our guests' experience at the Guest Harbor Inn, situated in close proximity to downtown San Pedro, we have crafted a comprehensive map. This map not only highlights key local attractions but also includes a curated list of nearby restaurants, ensuring our patrons have easy access to essential information about the area.

Business Cards
To bolster the promotion of the hotel following its rebranding, we recognized the necessity of a business card. As a thoughtful addition, we incorporated a QR code to facilitate seamless customer engagement and reconnection.

What I learned:
This project has been a rich source of valuable insights, introducing me to the realm of environmental graphic design, a field previously unfamiliar to me. Crafting elements such as hotel maps and signage not only expanded my knowledge but also served as a significant learning experience.
Further Development:
To further enhance the scope of this project, I am considering incorporating additional design elements, including items that could be featured in a gift shop. This may encompass a variety of merchandise such as shirts, stickers, and more.
